Description

PVC Tank Connector BSP

This PVC Tank Connector provides a secure connection between imperial PVC pipework and a tank, vessel or container. The fitting passes through the tank wall and is secured using threaded back nuts, creating a firm mechanical connection through the vessel.

The connection incorporates an imperial solvent weld spigot for joining to PVC pipework. The pipe is solvent welded onto the male spigot using a suitable PVC adhesive, providing a strong and permanent connection.

Sizing – Imperial Solvent Weld Pipe & Fittings

Imperial PVC pipe is sized by its nominal bore rather than its actual outside diameter. The table below shows the approximate outside diameter (O.D.) for each imperial pipe size.

Pipe Size 1/2" 3/4" 1" 1 1/4" 1 1/2" 2" 2 1/2" 3" 4"
Outside Diameter (mm) 21.4 26.7 33.6 42.2 48.3 60.3 75.2 88.9 114.3

BSP Thread Sizing

BSP thread sizes are nominal and do not correspond directly to the measured outside diameter of the thread. The table below provides approximate male BSP thread diameters for reference.

Nominal BSP Size 1/2" 3/4" 1" 1 1/4" 1 1/2" 2" 2 1/2" 3" 4"
Approx. Thread Diameter (mm) 21.0 26.4 33.2 41.9 47.8 59.6 75.2 87.9 113.0

Pressure Rating

  • PVC solvent weld fittings (1/2" to 8"): up to 15 bar (215 psi) at 20°C
  • PVC threaded fittings (1/2" to 4"): up to 12 bar (170 psi) at 20°C

Pressure ratings reduce as operating temperature increases. PVC pressure systems should not be used where operating temperatures exceed 60°C.

Standards & Approvals

Imperial solvent weld PVC fittings are generally manufactured in accordance with EN 1452-3, while threaded PVC fittings are generally manufactured in accordance with applicable BSP thread standards.

These fittings are WRAS approved and suitable for potable drinking water applications.

Installation

Pass the threaded section of the tank connector through the prepared opening in the tank wall and secure it using the supplied back nuts. The imperial PVC pipe connection should then be solvent welded using the appropriate PVC cleaner and adhesive.
